New on Netflix

Anticipated Netflix – October 2016

We all know Netflix UK pares in comparison to the US version. However we do have our graces and these are my most anticipated new arrivals, Film and TV, for October 2016.

The Siege of Jadotville | Drama | 7th October 2016

Let’s all push out of our minds Jamie Dornan in the Fifty Shades of Grey films because he’s a much more talented actor than those films allow. This Netflix original may just show it. It depicts the 1961 siege of a 150-strong Irish UN battalion under Commander Patrick Quinlan (Jamie Dornan) by 3,000 Congolese troops during the Katanga conflict. The film also stars the great talents of French actor Guillaume Canet and the ever lovely Mark Strong.

Mascots | Comedy | 13th October 2016

A new mockumentary by the amazingly talented Christopher Guest. I recently watched Spinal Tap for the first time and was blown away by Guest’s comedic acting and I know he’s directed some other great mockumentaries in his life so I have high expectations.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend | Comedy TV | 23rd October 2016 (then 1 every week)

If you haven’t been watching this show then shame on you. It is one of the best comedies in recent years and stands out from the crowd because of its musical numbers and hilarious performances. Season 2 is coming out in the UK mere days after it releases in the US (Thank you Netflix!!).

Glitch | Drama TV | 15th October 2016

I was surprised to see this one on the cards. It is an Australian TV series that came out back in 2015 but I’m glad it is getting real air time. Australians make really good TV. Fact. I saw it back then and it was really a great show. It’s about a policeman, Sergeant Hayes, who is called to Yoorana cemetery in the middle of the night, he makes a discovery that turns his world upside down. He finds six people with no memory of their identities. Who are they and what has happened to them?
